Chemical sensitivities are, very broadly, the occurrence of sensitivity due to the presence of some type of chemical or ingredient in a wide variety of things. These issues occur and look differently in different people, as some people may find and experience these sensitivity issues due to processed foods that they consume, only to find they are allergic to a certain chemical.
Other people may find sensitivities thanks to being introduced to some chemical around materials at work, or materials in their home, that their body rejects and whose presence they find difficult to hold and take. While these sensitivities cast a wide net, two things are made certain by their existence: (1) it is difficult for those patients to be around certain chemicals for any period of time without a significant medical issue or loss of quality of life, and (2) that the chemicals themselves must be avoided over time to ensure good health in the patient.
The causes of these issues vary extremely widely across people, chemicals, sources, and more. While these causes vary widely, they often include some type of chemical that is not naturally present, or some sort of artificially created chemical, either in food or other products that are used or come in close contact with the human body.
The chemical, then, triggers a reaction and a sensitivity that can range from something more benign like sneezing, hives, or rashes, and range all the way to more serious allergic reactions that can even lead to death if left untreated over time or unrecognized as a problem. As such, it is very important for patients to be mindful of reactions that occur within their body, and see to it that they do not purposefully expose themselves to these chemicals and other things that can cause major problems for them in due time.
The symptoms as discussed briefly above, can range in a wide variety of issues based on the chemical and intensity, as well. These symptoms tend to cross the gamut from something more benign like sneezing, hives, or rashes, and can go all the way to more serious allergic reactions that can even lead to death if left untreated over time or unrecognized by the medical community.
As such, it is important to be mindful of the symptoms and move forward in good health knowing that you can avoid a good deal of chemical sensitivity issues by, predictably, avoiding the chemicals that cause them in the first place, though that is occasionally easier said than done.
Nevertheless, though, chemical allergies, allergic reactions, and sensitivities can cause major problems for a wide variety of patients, should they leave these issues un-noticed and untreated. It is important that you are aware of your body, aware of its reactions to compounds and other materials, and that you make it a point to quickly and permanently seek help should anything more significant or serious happen to you and your body over time due to the presence of certain chemicals or other agents in your food or other products.
