Mood disorder is a situation in which an anxiety disorder can manifest itself in some way that is characterized by anxiety in situations where the person suffering perceives that it is a difficult situation to escape, or a tough situation in which to seek help.
These situations can include being in wide-open spaces with little foliage, as well as in uncontrollable social situations like going to shopping malls, or airports. It’s not limited to those situations, though, as mood disorders can strike and affect the emotions in a wide variety of ways and across a wide variety of channels. Psychologists traditionally see Mood disorders as a scale within the spectrum of the DSM-IV tests as a subset of panic disorders.
Causes of Mood Disorder
In the past, people believed Mood disorder was caused and developed as a complication of panic attacks. However, there is evidence that this relationship may not be as simple as it seems, and that Mood disorder is more subtle and nuanced than just simply being related to a basic panic attack, or other basic emotional let-downs or upheavals that can affect a person drastically.
Mood disorders can be onset by a variety of seemingly innocent events, but at the end of the day it appears a trend in underlying cause is that it is set off by those who perceive that they have no control over a certain situation or event. In turn, then, their moods worsen and they have less control over their emotional life and other issues around their body and outlook.
Symptoms of Mood Disorder
Mood disorders traditionally have been the basic symptoms of a panic attack or other onset anxiety disorder. These can range from increased heart rate and heart palpitations, to a host of other issues and problems like breathing issues, rising stress levels, poor decision-making, and more.
Symptoms set on fairly quickly during a case of Mood disorders, where a patient has little control over how and how intensely they arrive once they are onset. The best way to relieve these symptoms is to remove the particular person from the situation or area, and get them in a calm, relaxed state again.
There are several important things to remember – the above-mentioned symptoms must happen over time and not alone. That being said, though, mood disorders can be quite significant and seriously affect your life and your specific quality of life in time when it comes down to improving your lifestyle.
